In a thrilling matchup between the Centex Junior All-Stars and the Falfurrias Junior All-Stars, it was the Falfurrias team who emerged victorious with a final score of 7-5. Despite their valiant effort, the Centex Juniors couldn’t overcome an early deficit and fell short in their bid for victory.

The game started off with Ty Dawson on the mound for Centex, with Cam Everlegh behind the plate as the catcher. However, Falfurrias wasted no time in asserting their dominance, as they struck first in the bottom of the first inning, scoring three runs on four hits. It was a challenging start for Centex, and they were unable to respond in the top of the first, going down 1-2-3.

Falfurrias extended their lead in the bottom of the second inning, adding another run on a wild pitch. Centex managed to get on the board in the top of the third when Hunter Mariante scored on a passed ball, reducing the deficit to 4-1. However, Falfurrias quickly responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the third, scoring on yet another passed ball. They added a second run with a single to center, further extending their lead.

Despite the mounting pressure, Centex showcased their resilience and determination. Catcher Ty Dawson made a crucial defensive play, picking off a Falfurrias base runner at first with a quick throw to Tre Costillo after a pitch. However, Centex couldn’t capitalize on their defensive momentum and left three runners stranded in the top of the fourth inning.

Falfurrias also had their opportunities but couldn’t convert, leaving one runner stranded on third base in the bottom of the fourth. In the top of the fifth, Centex’s Hunter Mariante provided a spark by hitting a double with one out. He was moved to third on a ground ball to the shortstop and ultimately scored on a wild pitch, bringing the score to 6-2.

The sixth inning saw Falfurrias add another run, widening the gap to 7-2. However, Centex refused to go down quietly. In the top of the seventh, Ty Dawson delivered a clutch double, scoring Frankie Gonzalez and Ryder Castro. Tre Costillo then drove Dawson in, cutting the deficit to 7-5. Unfortunately, Costillo was tagged out while attempting to stretch his hit into a triple.

Despite their valiant efforts in the final inning rally, the Centex Junior All-Stars couldn’t overcome the deficit. Nevertheless, it was an incredible inaugural year for the Centex team, exceeding expectations for a new league entrant. They navigated through fierce local and sectional competition, ultimately reaching the state level, which is a remarkable achievement for the young squad.

The Centex Junior All-Stars should be proud of their accomplishments and the resilience they displayed throughout the season. They showcased their talent, teamwork, and determination, leaving a lasting impression on the league and setting a solid foundation for future success. With continued dedication and hard work, the Centex Junior All-Stars have the potential to become a force to be reckoned with in the seasons to come.
