Southwest Dominates Puerto Rico in First Pool Play Game at Senior Little League World Series

Last Night, The Senior Little League World Series commenced with a thrilling clash between Latin America (Puerto Rico) and Southwest (Texas D9). In an impressive display of power and skill, Southwest outshone Puerto Rico, securing a resounding 11-1 victory in the opening game of the Pool Play.
Right from the start, Southwest showcased their offensive talent as they leaped ahead with a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The highlight of the inning came when Miah Corona blasted an incredible home run over left field on a 3-1 pitch, bringing home Ky-Li Alonzo and setting the tone for a dominant performance.
Refusing to back down, Puerto Rico managed to close the gap, adding a run in the bottom of the 1st inning, making the score 2-1.
In the top of the 2nd inning, Southwest struck again, adding another run when Journee White was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, further extending their lead.
Puerto Rico attempted to respond in the bottom of the 2nd inning, but their efforts were thwarted as they failed to find any answers against Southwest’s defensive might.
The third inning went scoreless for both teams, with Southwest’s formidable defense denying any opportunities for Puerto Rico to catch up.
The real turning point of the game came in the top of the 4rd inning when Southwest exploded with a tremendous offensive surge. Scoring six runs, the highlight of the inning was a spectacular 2-run home run over center field into the forest by Jayden Sadler , bringing home Miah Corona and leaving the crowd in awe of Southwest’s dominance.
As the game progressed to the top of the 5th inning, Southwest showed no signs of slowing down. Adding two more runs to their tally, Ky-Li Alonzo displayed an impressive steal to reach home plate, while Miah Corona showcased her hitting skills with a double that brought Journee White home.
Puerto Rico’s efforts to mount a comeback were repeatedly stifled by Southwest’s exceptional defense, leaving them with no answers to the relentless attack from their opponents.
The final scoreline of 11-1 reflected Southwest’s dominant performance throughout the game.
The credit for Southwest’s triumph goes to their pitcher, Allison Schauer , who brought grade A remarkable control and composure from the circle. Schauer pitched five innings, conceding only two hits and one run while recording an impressive seven strikeouts.
With this convincing victory under their belts, Southwest has set the bar high for the rest of the teams in the Senior Little League World Series.
Tonight will be a special game that will rematch 2022’s Championship Game against, Delaware D-3 and Texas D-9. This will be the third time these two teams have faced each other in 365 days. Texas holds the advantage 2-0.
