Masterful Pitching by Central Texas D9 Trio Does Not Give Up a Single Run in First Three Games of Regionals.

It takes runs to win games, but it also takes a good pitching staff to keep the other teams scoring under control. Not taking away from this whole teams abilities (the team is stacked from the floor to the chimney top at all positions) and they are poetry in motion when you watch them.
The Pitching has been nothing less than lights out from Christy McGuire (Academy ISD), Izzy Garcia (Troy ISD) and Nicole Mucha (Rogers ISD). Again, do not misunderstand, when you have an infield and outfield crew who are equally as talented, it all comes together like the Philadelphia Orchestra.
In the last three games D9 has won by the scores of 11-0, 15-0, and today 13-0. This team is a powerhouse and the numbers dictate that, and deeper analysis explains it better. In three games the D9 scored 39 runs to all of their opponents 0 runs.
In the entire post season they have scored a total of 77 runs to their opponents 3 runs in 6 games. They are averaging 12.8 runs per game to their opponents 0.5 runs per game. Christy McGuire has pitched 17 innings struck out 15 and allowed 3 runs in 6 games. That’s an ERA of .824 Izzy Garcia has pitched 8 innings gave up 2 hits, struck out 10 with an ERA 0.0 Nicole Mucha has relieved 5 innings in two games, had 7 strikeouts, with an ERA of 0.0
The perspective gained here is that the D9 is giving up 0.5 runs a game and they are scoring 12+ runs per game. Go back and read that last sentence again.
Here’s the big statement. These pitchers are part of what I term the “254 Bermuda Triangle.” From Troy to Academy to Rogers back to Troy. These girls from 3A schools are throwing and showing the world they have heat, and the teams they’re playing can not tolerate the kitchen.
Tomorrow they play in the Regional finals at 5pm. If they win, the D9 All-Stars will represent all 254 counties in the state of Texas along with the entire southwest region in Delaware at the Little League World Series.
