Centex D-9 Takes Close First Game at Rocker B. Ranch
It was beautiful day for baseball under the lights with a picturesque background and sunset that only Rocker B Ranch could offer. In this first day of Little League sectionals, teams from North andCentral Texas took to the field to play in hopes to advance to the Little League State Tournament.
Centex D-9 played the late game and found themselves taking on the young Men from Blackland Little League just outside of Dallas.
Tywon Walker started on the mound for Centex giving up no runs in the top of the first.
In the Bottom of the first, Centex struck with a double on a 3-2 pitch that Gavin Brummet sent into the outfield driving in Tywon Walker from second base making the score One to nothing.
Blackland followed up on a single, in the top of the second, from Landon Welch which scored Ivan Sanchez from first tying the game 1-1.
The third inning went scoreless.
In the Bottom of the fourth on some aggressive base running, after being walked, Gavin Brummett took second then third on two consecutive past balls. He was driven in on a single to left field by Ryder Castro putting Centex up 2-1.
No runs were scored in the 5th inning.
In the bottom of the 6th Cooper Camp and Ross Garcia are both hit by pitches and sent to first. With runners on first and second, Sean Benavides hits into a double play moving Cooper Camp to third base.
Tywon Walker hit an infield single down the third base line scoring Cooper Camp from third. Walker advanced to second on a wild throw to first.
Gavin Brummett followed in the order and hit an infield single which scored Tywon Walker from Third, making the score 4-1 in favor of Centex D-9.
Blackland put up one more run, in the top of the seventh inning, but it was not enough to catch the Centex D-9 All-Stars and the game ended 4-2.
On 19 at bats, Centex put up 4 runs on 5 hits. Gavin Brummett and Tywon Walker were shining stars going 2-2 and 3-2 respectively. Brummett drove in 2 runs and Walker 1 run.
Tywon Walker pitched 3+ innings and had 4 strike outs. Tre Castillo pitched two innings and has 2 strike outs. Frankie Gonzales and Ryder Castro also went to the mound briefly and both had a strike out.
